That works, however most brokerages only allow a limit short order to be carried "good for the day". A couple more thoughts on shorting a stock:

1. The object in any equity position is to buy low and sell high but not necesarilly in that order.

2. To those who say short selling is "unamerican" . If all the colonists had stayed "long", we'd still be a colony!
