Medical science has shown lots of things. Do you see the labels on certain medicines? They might say something like "can cause side effects, such as headaches or nausea" ..you know what I am saying. You know how those warnings got there?
I am a guinea pig for a new drug being tested to replace what my liver does not make to help my lungs, and after the first round of testing(approx. 18 months) the next batch came out with warnings. Know why? Cause the folks testing the drugs would tell the Docs stuff like " Hey I got a headache from that", or "I got cold from that infusion", or different things. So the new batch of drug had warnings like " May cause coldness, or may cause headaches. FDA required them to put that stuff on there.
So testing can show lots of things. I do agree with you. No one sets out to become an alcoholic, no more than I set out to be what used to be called a "lunger" by smoking. Actually my folks gave me a ZZ gene that is actually a liver disease, and destroys lung lining( Alpha One Anti-trypsin Deficiency Syndrome) , but I complicated it by smoking. I chose to smoke.
Being around these kinds of folks I certainly agree with you. Folks are made up different and different things affect them for sure. Some folks have never had the urge to smoke or drink and some depend on it.
I hope I am making it clear, I do not have the same attitude as (his name here) :o), just voicing thoughts.
