(COMTEX) B: Intermallamerica.com Posts Major Gains in Web Visitors, NB: Intermallamerica.com Posts Major Gains in Web Visitors, Number of Mall Merchants

HOUSTON (April 8) BUSINESS WIRE -April 8, 1999--Houston-based
Intermallamerica.com, a leading Internet shopping mall, reports that
the number of visitors to its Web site nearly tripled in March,
compared to the previous month.

A total of 266,338 visitors clicked on the unique "brick-and-mortar"
online shopping mall last month, compared to 92,000 in February.
According to Cheryl D. Austin, CEO of Intermallamerica.com, the
increase in traffic results from national attention the mall has been
receiving.

The Great Intermall of the Americas, as the site is known, is a
12-level online shopping mall that approximates on the World Wide Web
the look and feel of a traditional retailing experience -- except that
it features state-of-the-art e-commerce shopping opportunities.

The mall includes escalators linking its dozen levels, restrooms with
flushing toilets and realistic-looking storefronts for the more-than
125 merchants who display and sell their wares.

Besides its appealing look and feel, along with a cost-effective means
for small businesses to conduct e-commerce, it has been able to attract
a rapidly growing assortment of merchants, including such big-name
merchants as Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS) and Autoweb.com (Nasdaq:AWEB).

Even before the March increase in traffic at The Great Intermall of
the Americas, Intermallamerica.com ranked in the top 2 percent of the
World Wide Web's most frequently visited sites, according to data
compiled by Alexas Internet and reported by Netscape Communications
Corp. With the huge gains in March traffic at the site,
Intermallamerica.com executives anticipated being ranked in the top 1
percent of the Web's most heavily trafficked sites shortly.

In related developments, Intermallamerica.com announced that 27 new
merchants were added to the mall in March, an increase of 26 percent
over February's total of 102.

"With the addition of this large group of quality merchants," Austin
said, "we're seeing Intermallamerica.com substantially broadening its
appeals to a wider array of shoppers everywhere, not only in the United
States, but worldwide."

Among the new vendors at the mall are Avon, the world's leading direct
retailer of beauty and related products; ESPN-The Store, offering
ESPN-branded merchandise, as well as league and team logo merchandise
and signed sports memorabilia; American Spice, representing the Great
American Spice Company's offering of a complete line of spices and
blends; PetQuarters.com, offering thousands of pet products; and
Toys-Gifts.com, the Internet's biggest toy store, with more than 6,000
different toys, 550 children's software titles and 300 video games.

Also represented in the mall are K-Tel Express (Nasdaq:KTEL), CBS
Sports Store (NYSE:CBS) and Beyond.com (Nasdaq:BYND).

According to Cheryl D. Austin, "We offer a turnkey e-commerce solution
at an affordable price to small- and mid-sized merchants wishing to
establish transaction-enabled Web stores. In offering a
"brick-and-mortar" shopping experience in cyberspace and providing
security for charge-card transactions, we've managed to create an ideal
shopping environment for both merchants and visitors to our site."
