Don, as I view it, there are several things that will make this stock move the way it ought to:
* Management must begin to do what it has to do about getting the word out. While I do not doubt the Berkmans are well regarded, that does not mean they are working at peak efficiency to maximize the value of the stock.
* The embedded capital gains problem has to be addressed, minimized, or abated altogether. Apparently, the company had a shot at this through the vehicle of a Morris Trust, but allowed that option to lapse.
* The portfolio, consisting largely of T, TGNT, LMG.A and LMG.B, must continue to rise. Recently T has moved (probably due to the imposition of the $3 minimum and money coming out of WCOM because of skepticism over the Nextel deal), TGNT has moved (most recently, probably due to the S&P ***** rating assigned to it today, 4/8/99), and LMG has moved (probably as a result of News Corp.'s plans to acquire Liberty Media).
* TruePosition has to be announced. The status of T.P.'s plans is, at best, sketchy. Much appears to hinge on the Harris County tests now in progress.
In any event, Don, we are witnessing a breakout today, with very good volume and good price movement. Let's hope is just the beginning of momentum in this stock to propel it to where it should be trading.
I suppose, because I'm a tad bit younger than you, I would like to see the Berkmans grow the value of this stock faster than you appear to be comfortable with. Got any matches?
Good wishes and good luck. |
