your take... try reading, it beats your imagination. It is called leverage (the high ROIC Dell way), not acquisition (the expensive CPQ way). Cheers Mike

This is FANTASTIC news. DELL is looking to make service a larger percentage of overall revenues. 30%!!!!!! Fez ______________________________ INTERNET WEEK March 29, 1999, Issue: 758 Section: News & Analysis ---------------------------------------- Dell Broadens Consulting Dell Computer last week said it's looking to broaden its consulting services. New services could include help desk and on-site installation, in addition to the custom configuration and break/fix services that Dell now offers. Dell will not significantly expand its small services staff, but rather will look to broaden partnerships with services companies, with Dell staff as the first point of contact. Services now account for a percentage of Dell's revenue in the low teens; Dell hopes to increase that percentage to about 30 percent by next year, and also will look to services as a separate revenue center, rather than a driver of systems sales, said company vice chairman Kevin Rollins, speaking at the Dataquest Predicts 99 conference. |
