Insignia Announces First Release of the Jeode
Platform for Windows CE

Additional Operating Systems Supported: Available Immediately

FREMONT, Calif., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Insignia Solutions® (Nasdaq: INSGY - news) announced today that it has
released version 1.0 of the Jeode(TM) platform. Embedded systems developers of Windows® CE-based embedded
devices can now enjoy many of the benefits of JavA® technology and its support of the Internet. The Jeode platform is
Insignia's implementation of Java technology designed to be compatible with Sun's Java specification for embedded
systems. The Jeode platform is also immediately available for developing Java applications on Windows NT and
Linux-based embedded systems.

There has been growing uncertainty about the on-going availability of a Java-compatible solution for the Windows CE
platform. As recently reported in InformationWeek, ''Microsoft is moving further away from Java.'' This has left some Java
developers wondering where they could turn for a Java-compatible platform for Windows CE, and how they could deliver
their Java applications to the market. Fortunately, as the first company licensed by Sun to deliver a clean-room
Java-compatible virtual machine, Insignia has released the Jeode platform for use by these Windows CE Java developers.

''Java applications developers and users now have a highly suitable Java-compatible virtual machine for the Windows CE
platform and other embedded operating system environments,'' said Richard M. Noling, president and chief executive
officer of Insignia Solutions. ''We have successfully parlayed our 300 plus man years of experience developing virtual
machines for resource-constrained computing platforms to deliver the Jeode platform, which we believe offers optimal
performance and behavior for embedded devices.''
