Re: "Outrageous statement. Where do you get this crap? "

pcvelocity.com

Notice the part where AMD is asked

Question: "Is the K7 intended to compete with Intel's Coppermine or Pentium III Xeon? "

Answer: "The K7 will move AMD into the high-end of the PC space. The K7 is designed to deliver performance that is superior to the PIII. It remains to be seen what the performance of Intel's seventh-generation processor will be, so it is impossible to say how the two products will line up against one another. "

Apparently the AMD spokesperson thinks Coppermine is Intel's 7th generation processor but nevertheless he clearly refused to compare the K7 with Coppermine or even the Xeon. All previous claims were for the K7 to beat anything Intel could offer. They are no longer making that claim.

So to answer your question, I got this "crap" straight from AMD.
