On the question of distributing shares to family members, I believe one is allowed to gift up to something like $20K to each family member per year without that family member have to report it on his or her taxes. This total probably includes stock trading at or below the $20K cap.

Assuming the CEO wanted to distribute as much stock as possible to family members, when do you think he would choose to gift them the stock? When it's selling high or selling low?
