APC TOPS COMPUTERWORLD'S 1997 RESELLER CHOICE AWARDS FOR UPSS
WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) was selected number one in the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) category in Computerworld Magazine's First "Reseller Choice" Awards.
Computerworld interviewed over 6,000 North American resellers, including Value Added Resellers (VARs), System Integrators and Network Integrators, in an effort to determine the leading brand of information technology sold in eighteen product categories. The response by VARs in the UPS category ranked APC ahead of the rest of the industry.
"APC made a commitment early on to invest heavily in developing brand awareness of our products," commented Aaron L. Davis, vice president of marketing communications at APC. "The investments, however, were not in brand building alone but were also in efforts to develop highly reliable and innovative products. That combined investment helped position APC as the leader in the UPS category."
"Vendors which do well in the Computerworld Reseller Choice Awards are effectively marketing and selling to their VARs," said John Carpenter, Computerworld Information Management Group. "Resellers are a difficult population to please, often loyalty rates are low for those vendors which do not deliver a reliable product in a timely fashion under favorable terms."
"It is an honor to be named along side such high quality information technology vendors, including IBM, Compaq, Microsoft, HP and more, as those recognized by Computerworld," continued Davis. "APC's commitment to the reseller is a very important element in the Company's overall strategy. The efforts made by every department at APC are aimed at providing both our customers and resellers the very best products, services and support in the industry."
