NEW YORK, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- SPEEDUS.COM (Nasdaq: SPDE) today announced that Nasdaq has confirmed the Company's compliance with Nasdaq's final listing requirement and determined to continue the listing of the Company's securities on the Nasdaq National Market.
The Company had agreed to make a public filing on or before March 31, 1999 with the Securities and Exchange Commission and Nasdaq of a February 28, 1999 balance sheet evidencing a minimum amount of net tangible assets which, in the opinion of Nasdaq, would allow the Company to maintain long term compliance with the Nasdaq's minimum net tangible asset requirement. The February 28, 1999 balance sheet filed by the Company was in compliance with Nasdaq's requirement.
The Panel's decision is subject to review by the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council until 45 days after the issuance of a written decision.
SPEEDUS.COM has initiated a SPEED pilot service and is connecting its first Internet subscribers. The SPEED service requires the purchase and installation of the SPEED modem. The SPEED modems are currently only available from the Company for $350. The Company plans to arrange financing for the cost of the SPEED modem to consumers and to increase its signal coverage area before commencing a major marketing campaign. Increased signal coverage through additional Internet Broadcast Stations is crucial to widespread availability of the SPEED service.
