There's a fundamental point that you must understand. Microsoft's main selling point for NT in big enterprise systems was that you could run your big systems on cheap Intel-based PC's rather than expensive hardware. Linux allows you to run Unix on Intel-based PC's. Thus, a major argument for switching to NT is nullified. Linux is thus a damper on NT server growth.
