not sure why I'd want to use them over the bells.
As far as I can tell, this "endless bandwidth needs" is a myth that got a lot of companies fantastic stock $$...there's plenty of capacity but it's not utilized very effectively. there's some interesting technologies out there that should stuff more stuff over the pipes in a few years.
A lot of the technology had been floating around for years in government labs, IBM and Bell labs waiting for related technologies to mature before its application was cost-effective and reliable.
re satellites and Y2K...the GPS constellation is a big concern. There's a monumental amount of solar activity expected this year that will probably fry the electronics and control systems of some birds, that's a different issue.
BTW I called schwab after-hours to ask why I didn't get my statements...
it took half an hour in wait queue to get a live person on the phone.
So much for their signature services...can't wait to see what happens in a kahuna.
