Do You Remember When?

It's been a while since I've posted on this thread and I thought that i'd throw some historical shit on the wall and see what sticks. Do any of you remember steve? - later known as hpeace? Do you remember his continuous babble about cpq merely going through another one of its short-term down cycles? Do you remember him preaching about cpq coming back shortly to continue its steady march upward? He was THE GURU on this thread for the longest time. Why? Because he was supposedly on the inside - a long time cpq employee, etc. etc. Well folks he was dead wrong! So wrong in fact, it's almost embarrassng.

Do you remeber when cpq bought dec? Do you remember when dec was to be accretive? Guess what folks. CPQ has lost over 20% of the dec business and dec is not contributing to the bottom line as was originally represented!! You don't believe me? Check around. Any major broker worth his salt will tell you the whole street knows that the execution of the dec merger has been an unmitigated disaster!

Elwood - are you there? Do you remember when cpq was about $76.00 in August of 1997? (pre-split). Remember when cpq had a good reputation as a dynamite growth company that returned terrific profits to its shareholders? Guess what folks. CPQ has lost its lustre. Tomorrow - I will gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today. Am I dating myself? Few analysts on the street will tell you that cpq is what it used to be. So what happenned? Did EP take a stupid pill?

No. He didn't become retarded over night. Unfortunately, ep has not evolved as quickly as his competition and what is even worse, he is getting what one broker described as "old, soft and lazy". Another stated "the fire isn't there anymore" His sense of things was "E. P. appears to be getting tired of the daily grind. He is worth tens of millions and frankly he is at the point where he doesn't give a shit anymore but his ego refuses him to let go".

Shareholders of CPQ -Listen up! There is a real possibility that the drive which was a trade mark of cpq top management has all but disappeared. Management is aging. The guys at the helm only have 3/4 of their heart in this business. They are marking time and looking forward to the day to retire with tens of millions on the sunny warm beaches of their favorite resort.

I know you all want to hold on to the past - not unlike those octogenarians among us that still remember the last glory days of the British empire. Unfortunately, that was then and this is now! The rest of wall street understands what has happened to management why don't we??
