DEERE & CO said late Monday it struck a deal with Russia to
distribute and service farm equipment there. Deere said the
agreement was reached after a meeting over the weekend with a
delegation of Russian government officials led by Deputy Prime
Minister Gennady Kulik. The deal also includes financing,
manufacturing and investment. "This partnership represents a
profound step in the revitalization of the agricultural sector of
Russia," Deere Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hans Becherer
said in a statement. Specific details and financial terms of the
agreement were not disclosed. Deere's deal comes on the heels of a
similar agreement reached between Russia and CASE CORP
