<Japan> Ed a ,the main reason (they tell me) for the stagnation of the Japanese economy (in recent years)is that the people save too much and spend less thus stifling the economy and this is said to be not a healthy thing to do. As an example 75% of the US GDP is derived from consumer spending, manufacturing only represents less than 20% of the GDP.I guess too much of a good thing is not always good.

I have a suggestion though and that is ->why don't we let the Japanese come over here with their check books for a few months,we'll show'em how to do it or we can go over there if they let's have their credit cards,check books and Post Office Savings Pass-book.<g>
