<<I read in a recent article in the WSJ that his mutual fund is the worst technology fund in recent history and now has only $1m under management. >>
Yup, it's done really poorly, no argument from anyone there, even him. Fortunately the news letter isn't the same thing.
<<How can you possibly listen to this guy after 4 years of pathetic performance?>>
Depends what you look at. FWIW, I listen to most everything I hear (I recommend trying this, BTW). <g> However, "listening to" and "uncritically acting upon" are two entirely different phenomena. ;-)
Personally, I've done very well picking and choosing from the stocks he profiles, but I'm highly selective and timing is very important. I've also learned a lot from his general overviews and his approach to investing, and I intend to keep subscribing to the letter which is pretty inexpensive for what I've gotten out of it. But when trading from it you also need to use stops and other typical trading techniques. I don't know about you, but I make tons of mistakes, and Murphy does too; doesn't bother me. A lot of folks are really aggressively bitter toward this guy, and I just don't understand it, but I'm also not particularly interested in defending him either. All I can say is "It's worked so far for me, and any mistakes I make are my own."
