Brian. The metal prototype machine I envision would extrude a solder compound. There are production machines in the marketplace that are able to apply solder to electronics boards in a consistent and accurate manner without bubbling/pitting so why couldn't SSYS build a machine to build 3D models using this technology? The heat needed to melt the solder is very close to the heat now generated by their FDM technology. I realize the use of this material isn't exactly office friendly but I think to grow sales beyond $25 million/year Stratasys will need to market machines to a complimentary niche. Solder is used in many work environments requiring only an increase in air turnover in the room. Again, the spirit on my comments is to stay within Stratasys' goal of providing customers with a choice of modeling materials and not necessarily replace current production methods.
