And that shoulda been "smitings". This sentence really interests me, Cindy, especially the "hellfire and damnation" part. I'd guess you come from just that sort of religious background. You may or may not have dropped the dogma--I don't know and I don't care--but you haven't lost the need for a rigid belief structure that so often results from early exposure to fanaticism.
