It is human nature to want to make up money lost in a stock in that stock. It is also a foolish thing to do, as it discounts opportunity cost. One of my first 'emotional' stocks was IOMG back in 1996. I still recall the day I sold it. I was sick and tired of being shackled to it, and remarkably, selling it set me free. I would still be waiting to 'get my money back' had I stuck with IOM. I made that money back in other names in 1997. I no longer care which name or what kind of position produces the dollars in my account, they're all worth the same amount whether they come from from DLIA or IOM, or from going long or selling short.
