'Tis true, kb, kbs, mb, mbs, etc, are used indescriminantly
to mean kilo/mega bits/bytes (s = per second).

Sometimes it helps to ask yourself if you would really believe
one or the other. Take a modem, for instance. If you think
56kb (s understood) means bytes, that would mean you could
download a megabyte of data in under 20 seconds (1,000,000/56,000).
Do you believe that? Naw, Peter, not even you <gg>.
So it's bits, for sure.
