*Globalstar* You are right and GG is wrong. Let's kick him while he's down! Globalstar will not have the first constellation up by July. Globalstar will start operation in September with an incomplete constellation, [though it is operational now for a few hours a day as the various orbits pass overhead]. There will be 32 satellites then [assuming the rockets don't do a Zenit] which will give reasonable coverage in most places. Certainly enough to start operations on a commercial basis.

I think it is good enough now to start but they probably don't have the handsets under production or other aspects good enough to sell handsets. For example they have to have terrestrial carriers lined up to provide service.

The rest of the satellites will be up by the end of the year.

That was a good article by GG and summarized it all nicely! No wonder Globalstar did a bit of a price zoom the last day or two. Also, Bernie Schwartz buying a bunch at $13 must have given some confidence.

[I think it's 32 that they'll start with]
