I know what AMAT makes and sales my point is that AMAT was basing the recovery on firming DRAM prices and increasing PC demand. Have you checked recent price on 64MB DRAM it slides almost daily.

PCs are important to AMAT since latest manufacturing technology is used for production of uP and DRAM. Other devices are most often produced in older fabs. A lot of profitable fabs are still at 0.75.
