Do they have open houses or do you have some sort of inside connection
to Silicon Video?

Talking about whether they can make it to market on time...my gut
feeling is that the Japanese companies know exactly what is going
on. Sharp just announced some sort of improved Passive-Matrix
technology today for 13.8, 15, and 17.7 inch screens. Close to
Active Matrix technology at half the cost.

Interesting how such an announcement comes so close after Silicon Video announced a large cash infusion and a move up on their market
schedule. I think companies like Sharp and NEC have the technology,
they might be just withholding it from the market while they reap
as much profits as they can off of the current technology.
...only to introduce it when competitive forces require it.

I also recall reading that the Japanese FED efforts are quite further
along then most people had thought. And that was some time ago.

I think there is room for Silicon Video to sell its screens on the
market, the question is - will they make any money at it? I don't think their technological advantage (independent of mfg) will hold
up. But hey...what do I know.
