Mike, I recently took a starter position in BGP and stumbled across your post. Since you're in the biz, I'd like to hear your opinion about Borders and its near term prospects. What do you think about their management vis a vis the competition? Do they have a Dan Akerson or a reasonable approximation of same?

Over on Yahoo there are several yahoos who think that bricks and mortar will lose to the internet. I think they are wrong, especially when sales tax is required to be charged in a year or two.

I took a starter position because: 1) the stock seems to have bottomed. It's been moving sideways on low volume for several weeks now and I think that any reasonably good news will cause it to pop, 2) I like strong companies whose stocks have dumped into the toilet for seemingly the wrong reasons (short term problems), and, 3) I like stocks that I think will double in 12-18 months.
