Tom, you're preaching to the choir here. I've been pretty proficient at snooping this stuff out for years. The issue is whether the policy is pursued with the intention of deceiving, or whether the company just flat out misses forecasts. Companies like Compaq have a lot of sway with resellers in forcing them to take inventory. And it is hard to tell just how much is crammed into the channels using DSO because the company uses factors which distorts the analysis.

But bottom line: I think Pfeiffer & Co. are inept. I don't think they are dishonest.
