Joan, The only good news about CPQ's earnings shortfall is the way OGRAY got the bad news on the old board. CPQ was halted last I knew down about 4 at 26+ or something like that. I tried not to look.
At this point CPQ should change its name to AltaVista, sell the computer business to HWP and hire a CEO like Russell. Or they could clean house and THINK from now on. They are going to get killed on Monday.
I now estimate a AltaVista spin off may open at three or four times the price CPQ will trade for on Monday. I won't be selling the dog$hit CPQ I bought at 30, chances are I'll be buying when the selling gets overdone. My buying is no vote for CPQ or its management. It is a bet on the internet. A bet that should of already paid off by now but CPQ has had their thumb up their a$$. I forgot CPQ is as slow and as stupid as HWP. I'll pay for forgetting that on Monday.
You will recall it was HWP, late to market that started the whole low price computer mess that has killed the PC market. HWP was late and tried to buy market share with low prices. CPQ, IBM and others played this stupid game and the rest is history.
You can thank old style thinking men who are high paid CEOs for both companies (CPQ and HWP) shortfalls. I should of bought more GNET. 909 BLUE
