John, I think the use of "discount" was meant in terms of discounting the event, not the price of the stock. For example, if the sales of pc are going to pick-up in 2000, the company's stock price will rise in 1999 as the future impact of the event is accounted for in the market.

Not sure I'm clear in my explanation. I too, think there is a better term to use than "discount". Think I'll quit while I'm ahead. <ggg>
