Insider selling could indicate anything; could be something as simple as someone wanting to buy a house or as a harbinger of bad news. Most of the time you just can't draw any conclusions. In Patel's case, it now seems to me that it is likely that he will be getting more stock in another 6 months (unless CS somehow reaches $35 in that time). Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be many ways to draw positive conclusions about these filings. One could hope that he is merely being impatient and nothing more.

Patel's bio: cabletron.com

The news articles indicate approximate dates of sales, but not filing dates, unless I'm missing something. My understanding is that a 144 normally indicates an intent to sell within 3 months after filing (correct me if that is wrong). If the sales have not actually taken place, then the most positive spin one could put on it is that Patel thinks CS will have some reason to dramatically increase in value in that time. But if the sales have already taken place....
