Just got back from Las Vegas. Will give a full report in next day or so but was quite impressed with what I saw. About 20 shareholders were present at the meeting. The ABTX office was quite frugal in appearance which was very encouraging suggesting that they are very concerned with the bottom line. Spoke with Johnny Thomas, Kathleen Gillespie, Byron Ford, John Francis, and Fred Clark (the owner of Clarks Seeds which was acquired by ABTX). The story appears to be evolving just as anticipated by the principals. There appears to be no doubt that this quarter will be quite profitable. There appears to be an excellent chance that more acquisitions will take place before June 1997 possibly pushing revenues to the 80-100 million range instead of the anticipated 50 million range. Whether these acquisitions will result in profit or loss for the entire year is not clear at this point but Johnny Thomas states that he focuses only on the long-term and if he has to give up some short-term numbers he will do it if its the right thing to do for the long-term growth of ABTX. Overall, I was very enthused when leaving the meeting. More to follow.
