It is too bad that Maggie Thatcher was not around. She could have probably handled Billy. And now that Boris is mixing Viagra with his vodka anything could happen.
But personalities aside, once these ethnic and religious hostilities get going it takes a real statesman to settle things down. I do not see one on the scene.
Threats, retaliation, and sabre rattling only seem to make things worse. Good old fashioned bribes and economic inducements, not to be confused with sanctions, are much more likely to be effective.
I wonder how much money has been spent and how much damage has been done to date. It might have been much easier and cheaper to buy peace than to force it.
