To whom it may concern (product release for DLP):

Go DMD!

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE) via Individual Inc. -- Proxima Corp.
(NASDAQ:PRXM) Wednesday announced the Desktop Projector 4100, a Digital
Light Processing data and video projector whose combination of phenomenal
image quality, worry-free operation, and system flexibility revolutionizes
the industry.
Available with or without a zoom lens, the Desktop Projector 4100 is the
first projector in its class to combine two exciting new technologies in
one unit: Digital Light Processing (DLP) from Texas Instruments Inc. and
Acrobat Player from Adobe Systems Inc. The latter is the core technology
of the company's optional MediaExpress system.
"By combining the superior image quality of DLP technology with the
cross-platform, cross-application, plug-and-play capabilities of Adobe
Systems Acrobat Player, the DP4100 achieves a new level of performance,"
said Gerald Hansen, Proxima's product line manager. "Add to that the
advanced control features of Proxima's Cyclops interactive pointer system
and the result is a multimedia projection system that clearly expands the
desktop projection marketplace."
The Desktop Projector 4100 projects 16.7 million true colors,
incorporates 24-bit video processing and is rated at 350 ANSI lumens for
lights-on projection. But the heart of the new projector is its innovative
digital light processing projection engine. "Simply put," said Hansen,
"DLP technology produces images whose color accuracy, clarity and
uniformity of illumination are superior to anything heretofore available in
a Desktop Projection device."
Photo-Realistic Images
Hansen explained that LCD images are dependent on the physical
characteristics of an LCD element, whereas DLP employs an array of
digitally switched micromirrors that precisely reflects the light. "With
the colors for each pixel digitally defined and displayed," he said, "DLP
is capable of projecting images of photo-realistic quality."
Compatible with virtually all popular IBM, IBM-compatible and Macintosh
computers, the plug-and-play DP4100 comes with an intuitive user interface
whose familiar look and feel is readily accessible.
Moreover, with Proxima's optional MediaExpress System installed, users
need only connect the power cord and insert their diskette to present. No
additional cables or even a computer are needed. The projector also comes
with monitor video loop-through for convenient video set-up with no Y-
cables.
Because the new projectors are compatible with Proxima's amazing Cyclops,
users can control their computer applications from the projection screen or
from anywhere in the room. In addition, the DP4100 comes with a Cyclops
multi-function remote for controlling both the projector's controls and the
presentation, as well as Proxima's LightBoard drawing tools for on-screen
annotation.
Weighing just 26 pounds, the compact, lightweight projector is ideal for
use as a multi-department device, as well as for mobile presentations.
Adding to its flexibility are such features as rear projection, ceiling
mountable installation, multiple computer and video inputs for simultaneous
use by multiple users, superior keystone correction, and an optional
motorized zoom-lens that allows placement in nearly any room configuration.
The projector is also compatible with all domestic and international video
standards (NTSC, PAL, and SECAM), as well as S-VHS.
Innovative Features
The DP4100 comes with an array of innovative features. For example, the
projector's Workgroup Mode enables users to nearly quadruple its brightness
for monochrome, high-detail applications such as spreadsheets or text-
intensive documents. And an optional transmitter allows audio to be
broadcast to optional remote stereo speakers, eliminating the need for
additional speaker cabling.
Designed for use in both large and small conference rooms, under the most
challenging lighting conditions, Proxima's Desktop Projector 4100 is the
perfect tool for business and sales presentations, mobile presentations,
software demonstrations, education and training, interactive workgroup
meetings, and mobile presentations.
With the addition of MediaExpress, it is ideal for users who aren't
comfortable setting up equipment, or who prefer not to use a laptop during
presentations, as will anyone with a fixed message to communicate.
Available through authorized resellers and computer products dealers, the
new projector is priced at $9,495. The zoom lens version (DP4100Z) is
priced at $9,995. All prices are U.S. suggested retail.
Proxima Corp. is a leader in desktop projection for large-screen,
interactive presentations and workgroup sessions. Headquartered in San
Diego, Calif., the company designs, manufactures and markets a full line of
LCD projection panels, integrated data and video projectors and interactive
presentation control systems.
