I suppose if one is looking for logic in it, it would run something like this. Asia and Africa are far away, but if you wish to protect Christians and Jews in the Middle East than one must be obligated to protect Muslims in Europe. Or maybe you just need a deal with Iran and that is one of their terms. Don't get me wrong, ethnic and religious violence is always wrong but if one is looking for the reason why other nations decide to intervene or not, unfortunatly we probably have to examine their economic or strategic interests.
