michelle it is a fair question but a split changes nothing .ie 19mm shares at 147 or 38mm at 73.5 is the same amount of dollars.the float i.e the stuff not owned by insiders can only change if they sell some,the company issues shares and those people sell or the company does a follow up offering.those are the only ways to increase the "FLOAT",period.splits are good for speculation these days but it has not always been the case.also ups your cost of trading,if that matters.puts shares in the hands of the opposite kind of people you want as fellow shareholders if you are a true long term investor vs a speculator.gnet would be less volatile with less fast money involved,my guess is that it is a favorite of the day trading community.
