Morning Lynn,
Glad you received some nice kudos for your holdings.

This seems so amusing. Apparently the way you run a company has
nothing to do with the award. I don't know when they announced
it but musta been much earlier.

Who/ What: Eckhard Pfeiffer, Chief Executive Officer of Compaq

Computer Corporation, will be honored by the University

of Houston College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Alumni Association with the Quest for Excellence Award,

in recognition of his leadership role in the advancement

of information technology to better serve and benefit

society, his personal commitment to higher education,

and his outstanding service to Houston and the nation.

The Quest for Excellence Award recognizes individuals in

the sciences for his/her contribution to the betterment

of society and the quality of life through science and

education. Dr. Paul Chu, world-renowned physicist in the

field of superconductivity research, and TLL Temple

Chair in Science at the University of Houston, was the

inaugural recipient of the award in 1993.

Why: Proceeds will endow a Chair in Eckhard Pfeiffer's name,

and fund scholarships and faculty development grants at

the UH College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, to

help attract and retain the best and brightest talents

in the sciences from around the world to the city of
