Here is a bit of sad news.You are a fan I am sure,NO? I remember vividly cutting classes to go see 'Chemmeen' while a 1st year student at St.Berchman's college. 'Scavenger's Son (Tottiyute Makan)' was required reading in high school. Exemplary writer, I am sure he will be sorely missed.

Noted Malayalam writer and Jnanpith award winner Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai died at his Sankaramangalam residence in Thakazhi, in Alapuzha, Kerala, this evening.

He was 87.

Thakazhi had been ailing for some time and his condition became worse because of breathing trouble. The doctors' attempts to revive him failed.
