Look at revenues as well as earnings. CPQ's case is one of poor margins and profitability. Their revenues were quite strong, a miss by 3% which good companies can usually manage by cutting costs.

If other companies like DELL with better margins and profitability make their revenue numbers, they will clearly make their earnings numbers.

As for INTC, it is now clear to me at least that they are not going to miss revenues. I do not know enough about their cost structure to comment on the earnings numbers.

Overall, it does look like a CPQ-specific problem.
