Getting data into OUTLOOK.
From your post, you said you zipped your data, but you didn't say you unzipped it on the new machine. Maybe this is the missing step.
However, I don't have much confidence that this will work, especially if the machines differ by any amount. I'd like to suggest another approach.
First, determine that Outlook is working properly on both machines. You want to eliminate Outlook itself as the cause of your difficulties.
I'd try using Outlook's IMPORT and EXPORT wizard to make copies of your data on one machine and use the same wizard to load that same data onto your new machine. This method will get around the nasty problem of things being in different locations or formats on each machine.
You should find this Wizard by clicking 'File' and choosing 'Import and Export' from the choices. Just follow the prompts and click 'Next' until you're done.
I don't use Outlook, so I cannot know for certain if you'd need to do this once for everything or if you'd need to do this for each type of data Outlook uses: Mail, Fax, Calendar, Contacts, Addresses...
Hope this helps, Fred.
P.S. Outlook will allow you to import your Outlook Express mail settings. |
