Anyone else experiencing connectivity problems with Cybercorp? I get disconnected at least a couple of times a day from their network. I use 128k dialup ISDN with UUNET. I have tried other ISPs as well as their "private network", "Cybernet" without any success. It is impossible to trade like this. When I go to execute a trade, I get told that I have been disconnected and must log on and log off again. Of course the trade has moved against me by the time I get back on line.
Their web site seems to be wrong about the "Cybernet" network. The web site describes the Cybernet network as: "Pay-as-you-go, no monthy fees, no contracts. Fast hook-up (usually 2 days or less). Fast, reliable connection. No internet traffic(private network). Lines rarely go down."
It does not seem to be a dedicated connection to Cybercenter. There appears to be Internet traffic. I am able to access web sites while connected. And most alarmingly I still experience frequent disconnects.
The only other alternative is frame relay, a prohibitively expensive solution. It was quoted to me at about $900/mo with a minimum one year contract by MCI/WorldComm, and it would require a $2000 router.
A more reliable, less costly solution is needed, such as a private ISDN modem bank that traders could dial into which provided remote access to Cybercenter, one that really was exclusively for quotes and trading traffic.
Are other people experiencing these difficulties? If so how are you dealing with them? |
