so, who was it on this thread that said cpq wasn't stupid enough to stuff the channel again ;-)

here are some developments of interest:

1. 64 mb retail has dropped from $92 to high $50s is about 2-3 months.
2. retail pc unit growth was up a whopping 1% in february.
3. compaq says that business sales are weak.
4. per idc, desktop revs were negative in 1998 for the first time in history. of course, myself and a few others have been saying that for many months. so idc is about 3 months slow. all those who insulted me for being so wrong... apologies are now being accepted ;-)
5. dell has missed rev numbers 2 qs in a row - first time in 5 years.
6. inacom, ingrahm micro, et al continue to report disasters.
7. the $600 and under pc market is growing leaps and bounds - dram doesn't grow in this area...
8. ericson said that there is a lot of pressure in the wireless amrket.
9. companies continue to buy chip equipment, click their heals, and repeat, "the bottom has already been made, the bottom has already been made." ;-)
10. dq's assertion that $1.30 per mb of dram would stay steady for three years was proven false within a week ;-) it currently stands at $0.92. hey, although their estimate was a joke, it is better than their normal bs ;-)

just wanted to point out the facts that all lead to one conclusion - the equipment mfrs are a great buy at current levels ;-)
