Sorry to get back to you so late.

Like many things, these technologies MUST converge. Two years ago I had an EXTERNAL phone modem. My last computer has it built in – much cheaper and NO clutter.

Today I have and EXTERNAL ADSL modem. Many here have an EXTERNAL cable modem. Next year BOTH of these will be built in (as will a phone modem and ethernet connection). If these are all separate chips then it costs much more. SOMEBODY, probably Motorola first (they have both technologies in-house already), but also a high speed data expert like BRCM will provide this.

That product insight and and Samueli's history with PAIR I think keeps this in his mind. (Who doesn't dream of the day where you walk in and inform your old boss that starting today, "I'm in charge and now we're going start by doing things right!")
