I bet the short fall of profit is the result of sub $300 PCs, and competition from e-machine. Yahoo's subscribers has increased significantly, so has AOL. What does that mean ? It means these new subscribers were latest owners of PCs, it also means
good units growth. Intc just cut the price of its CPUs, what that means ? It means Intc has enjoyed higher unit growth , and still have room to drop the price and still meet
analysts' expectation.

What CPQ's short fall to the market ? No impact at all to the general high tech market, but the box makers will be hurt badly. People finally realize what the impact will be to the box makers as profit is getting thinner and thinner. But those companies in the e-commerce , networking ...etc will enjoy the fruit as more and more people get on line.
