In regards to that article, the key point listed there was the
ability to make a profit. Not until 2000 to be in the black,
if they get lucky. Sure the portals are using Inktomi's services,
but do you really think this is permanent? Right now Yahoo and
others are finding ways to circumvent and curtail their spending
to Inktomi. A year or two is a long time to Internet companies,
and without any profits coming in, the prospects of growth will
be limited. This is especially true of those companies that can
not get venture capitalists to part with some more of their money.

In my mind, Inktomi will have competition problems within a year,
and profits will be none existent since they have nothing that
can't be duplicated.
