First off, your charting program doesn't seem to realize that MCD split early this year! Otherwise, it would have shown it UP some 40% over the past 1 year, instead of DOWN 27%! Second, it doesn't take into account dividends (but then we already know about it, don't we?!). WRE generated a dividend of nearly 7%, MO was nearly 4.5%, PLL was close to 3.5% and so on. And those dividends make quite a difference to the total return, believe me! Third, my own account doesn't reflect a loss because I have taken advantage of some tremendous buying opportunities in these stocks (especially in case of PLL and DBD) during the past one year.
