Victor- My speculation was that Pfeiffer/Mason knew about the debacle, but wanted to wait to package it with "warm/fuzzy" comments about the future of enterprise/Alta Vista on Monday....but (ok, I'm reaching here) that waiting 'til Monday would have REALLY, REALLY looked bad....but Friday after the close looks bad (but, at least a little better than Monday), and then he can spin all day Monday...so, announcing late Friday is almost as good as Monday...

Either way, if EP and Mason knew about it before Friday, and did not tell (waiting a few days) for whatever reason, I believe that would be against SEC rules (no?) concerning timeliness. They do not have the luxury of waiting until there is some good news to lump it in with....<bad grammar, I know>......(if I understand the regulation correctly)..Not a good thing to do, given the existing lawsuits, IMO

I am equally baffled by the management of this whole deal.

I hope, going forward, Compaq is overly cautious about forward-looking statements...there is absolutely no more room for misses of any kind...

IMO, maybe the best thing for the stock price on April 21 would be an Alta Vista announcement and an announcment of EP and/or Mason leaving...
