Hi Jaime,
Yes, I know of CPQ's disappointing earnings. This will definitely add to the "Wall of Worry"!
I guess what will tell are people's perceptions of this by how the money moves. Valuations, and risk, have been very high for a long time and yet money keeps flowing in. Check this: amgdata.com Please check the $$$ into Money Market Funds as well as Equity Funds. Also, Laszlo Birinyi uses only Money Flow for his investing, and nothing else. I believe he thinks the market is going higher.
also, go to the DP site, and check out these two: decisionpoint.com decisionpoint.com There sure is a lot of bearish sentiment out there!
I'm not a buy-and-hold type. But, I've found that for my particular purposes (trading index funds) it works best to scale in (down) on the buys and sell out completely on the sells.
The market sure did finish strong on Friday: quote.yahoo.com Although Monday could get hit pretty hard to the downside due to CPQ, other earnings are coming in better (YHOO +.03) I guess I just don't see a significant top in the next few weeks and, that's what I'm betting on.
I very much appreciate your perspective - we'll soon find out how strong, or weak, this market really is on Monday with the reaction to the CPQ news....
