Open Mouth, Insert Foot

You're right, Red. I didn't catch the unintentional humor in my comment about Mark Haines until after you mentioned it. I hope the gentleman will accept the compliment in the spirit it was given, even if he does take some teasing about it...

Sometimes I say things off the cuff, without intending anything negative. Lately, I've also been trying to distract myself from life, and CNBC has provided a good outlet for that. It is fast-paced, exciting and with a lot of wonderful talent and intelligence there. Even though I am very interested in the content, I find myself reacting on a more visceral level: for example, the look on someone's face, or the way they talk or interact, etc.

I've lived somewhat of a hermit-like existence the last few months--basically in a mid-winter slump and working at home by myself--and am now trying to break out of it. Normally I don't really get into celebrities (other than perhaps Rick Springfield---big fan of his music---and he's making a comeback with a new album!), but I've found myself kind of drawn into the world of CNBC, probably from watching it almost every day. I also used to find finance about the most boring thing in the world, but "woke up" in January and started watching the network and reading books by the Beardstown Ladies, Peter Lynch, James O'Shaughnessy, etc. I recently got Bill Griffeth's and Ron Insana's books, but am not that far into them yet. Am I correct that Maria Bartiromo also has a soon-to-be published book?

Anyway, pardon me for boring all of you with this, but as the "newbie on the block", I guess this serves as something of an introduction to an occasionally overly blunt or outspoken person. Hope no one takes offense at anything I've said in the last few days. It was intended nicely, even if I did get a little carried away, especially about Mr. Faber. :-)
