The Times They Are a Changin'!

I am getting more and more reports of springtime fishing. Bonito have made a token appearance around the Cape Fear beaches. Striper catches have increased in the rivers and the season for taking them home has already closed in some areas. Speckled trout are moving away from their deep winter homes in the Lowcountry and red drum are making a stronger appearance in the sounds and rivers. The period from mid-April through May is generally regarded as the best time of the year to catch yellowfin and they are making a strong appearance already. The Pamlico Sound is starting to warm up and the speckled trout are getting more active around the creek mouths and puppy drum in the backs of the creeks with dark bottoms.
