Compaq could have made an announcement earlier without breaking any SEC regulations according to what I was told by someone at CPQ's IR when I questioned them about quiet period restrictions a few weeks ago.

I sure do hope CPQ makes some "'warm/fuzzy' comments about the future of enterprise/Alta Vista on Monday." Quite frankly, the only trump card I see holding right now is Alta Vista itself and CPQs plans regarding the IPO. Another, "We are buying," announcement to beef-up AV? No good right now.
