As with all standard buy-out offers Homestake's Argentina Gold offer included a "due-diligence" period to allow the technical staff time to complete their data assessment. Barrick's Sutton offer was final with no "due-diligence" period and there are rumors the top technical people were caught off-guard by the management decision which was made before they had time to complete their data assessment.
