PB, As far as the beaches go, yes they are often foggy. I moved to Ventura Co. in So. Cal. a few years back and got a place pretty much right on the beach. I was very disappointed in the perpetual fog and marine layer. When I lived in Arizona I used to make trips over to Laguna beach and southward. I always found the cold water and warm air rather invigorating. Northen California beaches have an amazing summertime combination of frigid water and frigid air, which is not so appealing. I used to watch them play bone-chilling golf at Pebble Beach on TV, but it never registered with me exactly what was going on there... Scumbria
